Marathon Training Time/Tips
Running or walking a marathon or 1/2 marathon is an amazing feat but one that should be done through appropriate training. We at Emily's Power for a Cure are here to guide you and support you through your training. The most important thing to remember when training for a marathon or 1/2 marathon is to NOT OVER TRAIN!!!! You want to head into race day feeling healthy and confident.
Our team likes to follow the Hal Higdon Training programs. There are programs for full marathons and half marathons, from Novice to Advance, in running and walking. CLICK HERE to find the best program for you!
There are also group training opportunities for you to participate in and to meet other members from the Pink It To The Limit team. The group trainings are as follows:
Mondays at 6:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. - meet at Pilates Tonic (401 N. Market Street, Chattanooga) Please park in the gravel parking lot across from Pilates Tonic. When parking, please try to park behind one another so that we don't take up all of their parking space. Will Daugherty will lead these trainings. Mondays are plyometric days, Wednesdays are speed work and Saturdays are distance.
Group Training at GPS - Chris Greenwood of The McCallie School will lead training beginning on Saturday, February 21st @ 10:00 am. For February 21st and 28th, he will meet the group on the indoor track at McCallie. Starting Saturday, March 7th, he will meet the group @ 10:00 am inside the front entrance of GPS. As we mentioned, maintaining a healthy body throughout your training is our goal for you. Our friends at Results Physiotherapy will be happy to help with any aches, pains or questions you should have while training. Please feel free to call Troy Ketchum or Chip Clifton (318-254-3354) at Results Physiotherapy and they will get you an appointment as soon as possible.
